"The Code" (a story I've been reworking for some time) was picked up, and it won the Global Short Story Competition for May. Read it here:http://www.globalshortstories.net/maywinners2011.pdf
Thanks for hanging in there with me! I'm still writing, just v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y.
The Code brought back many memories of my father. When I had to take away his car keys, he said,"Oh so you're one of them now, too." Aging isn't for the faint of heart.

Thanks for the read, Monica. There's a part two to that story, as my grandmother's delusions have actually subsided as she's begun to lose her memory--maybe one day, I'll be able to write this follow-up. My view as an adult. She's such a mysterious woman.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I am pleased to check out your blog. Thanks for the invite :)
Oh Jen I am sorry about the tendinitis, very excited about your wonderful story "The Code." You grandmother sounds like someone who can be both absolutely wonderful and yet the sadness must linger.
ReplyDeleteI though am so happy to read a bit more about her as she is such a wonderful character and woman inspite or maybe because of her delusions.
Thank you, Marta, you're always so supportive. And thanks for reading The Code. It means a lot to me. :)
